After losing Leon Washington for the season to a leg injury, the New York Jets re-signed versatile Justin Miller as the replacement for injured Washington. Miller used to play as cornerback and kick returner and was waived by the Jets during last season.
Miller was a second-round draft pick of the Jets in 2005, and made the 2007 Pro Bowl season after leading the AFC with a 30.1-yard average and two touchdowns on kickoffs. After being waived by the Jets last season, he signed with the Oakland Raiders, who released him Nov.11.
Pro Bowl returner of last season Washington broke his right leg last Sunday in the Jets’ win over the Raiders and was placed on injured reserve. Coincidently, Washington was replacement to injured Miller, who was still wearing Jets jersey, as the primary returner in 2007. And for this season, Miller, who has a 26.2 career kickoff return average and five returns for scores, is just the very player who can replace Washing for this season. Jets made a good choice.
